The Whiplash star is getting shredded for his role as Commissioner Gordon.
Simmons' coach and gym buddy, Aaron Williamson, a US Marine, actor and fitness pro, posted photos of the Academy Award winner training at Gold's Gym to his Instagram account, which have quickly gone viral. Williamson has captioned one image with, "Saturday morning, 61 years old & making the young generation jealous. This is what dedication looks like. #JKSimmons."
Simmons, 61, is known for his roles in Juno, Whiplash, for which he won an Oscar, and the Spider-Man series as J. Jonah Jameson. Strangely, the role he's apparently training for, Commisioner Gordon, is not usually portrayed as being particularly muscular, so this looks to be a different take on the DC Universe character. Of course, Simmons might just be keen on getting into shape for his general health and well being. After all, research shows that lifting weights is beneficial for older people.
One thing's for sure, though: people better make sure they're on Simmons' tempo now!
