Bodybuilding Idol

The name Jack Maalouf is synonymous with two industries: bodybuilding and music, two totally contrasting industries. What is most impressive about Jack is that this singer-cum-bodybuilder was once an overweight and less than confident man, who entered Australian Idol some years ago and failed to impress the judges.

Remarkably it was some sage words of advice by Kyle Sandilands that gave Jack the impetus to improve himself physically.

A year after that event, Jack returned to Idol a new man. Unlike his former pudgy self the new Jack was buffed and athletic fresh from competing in NABBA/WFF, the new Jack Maalouf had more in common with a Calvin Klein model than an out-of-shape dreamer. One of Jack’s most prominent features is his calves and powerfully strong lower body. Although Jack’s singing didn’t win him a ticket to the next round, Jack’s determination to prove himself did impress the judges somewhat. In fact, Jack ended up giving out cans of sardines to the judges — the tinned fish is a staple of Jack’s diet and one of the main sources of muscle building food. Jack’s primary sources of nutrition come from seafood, eggs and greens with minimal amount of supplementation. Jack employs the use of his mobile phone to remind him to eat every three hours.

“I am very motivated,” Jack says. “I want to show people the benefits of being healthy. To get where I am I have to do two hours a day, five days week — that’s one hour of cardio in the morning and one hour of weight training in the evening.” Some inspiring words of wisdom came courtesy of the Statesman himself, Graeme Lancefield, whom Jack praises as being instrumental in his bodybuilding career: “Graeme always had faith in me and told me I could do it!”

With a new physique and outlook, Jack was also an entrant in a hottest hunk competition, receiving over two thousand votes and made the largely female crowd swoon with his singing. Although not winning the competition, Jack was a clear favourite, reportedly shaking the hand of every single competitor and respectfully treating the female audience. Jack aspires to enter the personal training field in the future and says he is passionate about getting the best results for all people regardless of age or gender.

Jack Maalouf is a quintessential competitor, never giving up and always pursuing his dream. The bodybuilding stage awaits Jack in 2010 and sponsors take note, this is one bodybuilder who would do you proud!
